TRANSGRANCANARIA 2021 REDUCES BIBS TO 50%.

The 22nd edition of the race will be held between 24th and 28th February strictly following the relevant health protocols. The mountain races of Gran Canaria were especially fortunate this 2020 when the previous edition could be run with great success. It was practically the last big event of the year having the entire world elite. From China to the United States, through Italians, Spaniards and more, everyone found their place on the podium.

TRANSGRANCANARIA 2021 REDUCES THE REGISTRATION LIMIT FOR THE NEXT EDITION TO 50%

Next 2021 will be a special year for the Transgrancanaria. The race, which was able to celebrate its 21st edition last March as it moved ahead of the health alert situation, is already set its sights on next February to get the appointment forward. It seeks to demonstrate that outdoor sport is safe and more necessary than ever in the times we are living.

The event wants to be shielded by possible changes in sanitary conditions and will limit the sale of bibs for its six races. The organization is working on a possible restructuring of the agenda to comply with the relevant safety measures for the next edition. Thus, to comply with capacity regulations, the organization has reduced by 50% the number of places it will offer for the event scheduled for the week of February 24-28.

A decision made to comply with the health protocols set for the race and due to the changing situation that the world is going through, the organization wants to get ahead of the situation and limit the number of athletes. In this way, the organization wants to offer a rewarding and safe experience to participants who can access a bib number.

THE 2021 HG TRANSGRANCANARIA HAS ALREADY OVERCOME THE BARRIER OF THE THOUSAND BIBS SOLD.

As you can see in the summary table below, some of its modalities already enter their final stretch. The organization has extended the discount period until November 18th with the intention, on the one hand, to give more time to participants arriving from outside the Canary Islands to plan their participation and logistics to come to the race, and on the other hand to help all those participants also economically affected by the effects of the pandemic so that they have a better chance of fulfilling their dream.

Thus, the distance that already has the most advanced sale of bibs is the WAA 360º, which has occupied 81% of its places. It is followed by the Classic (129 kms) with 62% registered and the Advanced (65 kms) with 58%, while the shortest distances (Marathon of 42 kms, Starter of 30 kms and Promo of 17 kms) will soon reach 50% of its maximum capacity.

MORE CHANGES DUE TO COVID19.

From the organization a lot of effort is being put into taking forward this project that represents a dream for so many people, especially in this situation that we are now going through. Therefore, a number of changes will be applied that will affect the number of services offered, possible public restrictions and changes to the running agenda.

That is being worked on with the idea of maintaining the programme as established in recent years, the event will be adapted to the health measures imposed by the authorities. This ensures compliance with regulations and provides a safe experience at all times. All modifications will be communicated well in advance and possible changes will be provided to the registrations of the participants already registered.

After the 2020 edition, in which Gran Canaria was on everyone’s mind thanks to an epic race between Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and El Faro de Maspalomas, the Transgrancanaria wants to return to show the world the charms of a race that dreams of making history again, just as we lived this 2020.
